Hey folks, it's been quite a while since we put one of these together for you. 2020 was tough for us all, and we're not out of the woods yet, but hey may as well go fishing, right? Here are a few quick tips for the coming Spring.
- CJ Strike is almost always worth a visit, but April is typically when the panfish start moving in closer to shore so you don't need a big expensive boat to catch fish. Idaho Power recently dumped in about 50,000 trout as well, so there's that. https://idfg.idaho.gov/press/idaho-power-stocked-50000-trout-cj-strike-reservoir-early-march
- Many rivers (such as the South Fork of the Boise) close to protect spawning rainbow trout. Don't get caught with your hook in the wrong water.
- Duck Valley has reopened to fishing as long as you keep a mask on while you visit. https://shopaitribes.org/spfish/fishing.html
- There are even more trout getting planted around the Magic Valley area than usual, thanks to some local fish farms donating excess stock. https://idfg.idaho.gov/press/stocking-donated-rainbow-trout-continues-throughout-magic-valley if you want to learn more
