Bright sunny day on the Boise River meant that bright green leaches and other big flies were finding the fish, as well as hare's ear nymphs and zebra midges. Catch consisted of about a dozen fish total, some real small trout and whitefish, a few trout in the 10-12 inch range, and one each around 16-17 inches. Fly fishing in October is the best.
Oh by the way, tiny strike indicators with no weight on the line were the best for detecting strikes. Use thin floro to keep the fish from noticing and getting the flies down fast. Put the indicator about the depth of the water plus 50% away from the lowest fly.
